YOUTH AMBASSADORS

Unselfish and noble actions are the most radiant pages in the biography of souls.                ~David Thomas

Dani’s Foundation has established a Youth Ambassador program with the intent of involving students within our Foundation.  These Ambassadors will work with the Foundation to assist in raising awareness and funding for the Campaign to End Pediatric Sarcoma.

Patient Ambassadors

Maressa McClintock and Dani Urman, both pediatric cancer survivors, are acting as Youth Ambassadors for Dani’s Foundation and their efforts to spread the word on the symptoms of pediatric sarcoma.  Both young ladies are hoping to make a difference by educating the public and hopefully saving the lives of children and young adults in the coming year.

Maressa is a freshman at Adams State College.  She was diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma 7 years ago.  Dani is a sophmore at Cherry Creek High School.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma last year.

Both young ladies appreciate the need for early detection.  If left untreated, sarcomas cancer cells can spread to other parts of the body (lungs) and metastasize; often taking the lives of these young patients.

Both Maressa and Dani are working with Dani’s Foundation to educate the families of Colorado on the symptoms of pediatric sarcoma.  Statistics show that the earlier a cancer diagnosis; the better the chances for survival.  Maressa and Dani were lucky that their cancers were caught early.  Thanks to quick and proper medical attention, both ladies are now cancer-free.  Other children and young adults are not that lucky!

Student Ambassadors

Brighton High School’s National Honor Society Club has adopted Dani’s Foundation as their “charity of choice” and has been working to raise awareness and funding for our efforts to End Pediatric Sarcoma for the past three years.  These students help out as volunteers at special events, sell promotional bracelets to their student body throughout the year and work to help in the organization of the annual STEPS Walk for Dani’s Foundation.

We are hopeful that other student groups (elementary, middle, high school and college) will agree to join Brighton High School and assist in our efforts to End Pediatric Sarcoma.

For more information on how your school group may become involved with Dani’s Foundation, contact Martha Simmons for details.

By working together WE CAN put an end to pediatric sarcoma!
